The Weekend...In Words

Friday I spent a good deal of the day either en route to the airport, or waiting at the airport.  I was picking up Russia...she was (obviously) coming from Russia.

When I arrived at the airport, I knew I'd be waiting for a while since she had to go through customs...but I didn't bank on having to wait an hour for the plane to land because it was delayed due to snow.  If was all good though because it was good people watching and I came prepared with work to do.  Plus I got dinner out if it, which is always a plus.

Saturday I'd planned on working and maybe going to the movie...but then I got invited to go sky diving...and I couldn't pass it up.  It was the scariest and coolest thing I've every experienced in my life!!!

Ok...so maybe I wasn't actually the one jumping, and perhaps I have no idea what jumping out of a plane feels like (yet) but I did spend the majority of the day at the 'drop zone' watching the colorful jumpers float through the clouds and each time make it safely to the ground.  It was truly a sight.

Being there reminded me of being at a horse show or horsie event...people hanging out and talking about the sport they love, the sport greats, the newest equipment, war stories and the like. But instead of horses, saddles, and boots, there were rigs, shoots, and planes.  I talked with lots of people about how they got started and the ends and outs of the sport...and then each one grilled me to see when I was gonna jump.  Whoa...slow your roll...that's something that takes a but of thought...but I have to admit, I'm not completely opposed to the idea.

Saturday night ended with watching Oscar nominee 'screeners' with Delaware.  See, during awards season, film producers send DVDs of their film so Academy Award members can watch the movies in hopes of getting votes for their film.  These are all the movies that are in the theaters now...so I saved some money...though is seen most everything already...maybe about 5 I had not seen, but I have the screeners now, so I can watch at home like the Academy Award members...which I shall be a part of one day.  I have to give props to Delaware, who was able to get them from her boss.

Sunday I didn't go to church today because I went to a free horsemanship clinic.  I found out about it through a site called meetup...which allows you to meet and do activities with like minded people.  I joined the Backyard Horseman group and the Adventure group who mostly does outdoor activities...but they've got groups for virtually everything...or you could start your own.

Anyways, being at the barn with horse folk was really fun, and they do it once every month.  Not only did I get my horse fix, but I also learned a bit...which is always great. There was even a horse that looked kinda like one of my FL friend's horses she lets me ride from time to time.  I even feel like this facility is one where I would  could resume my  training when the budget permits...one of the ladies had even attended a clinic with my first and favorite trainer, Ms. D.M.West.

I ended the day watching the Golden Globes and relaxing.  I was going to go to a networking event, but I didn't...for several reasons that aren't really important.

Tomorrow starts a new week...and after a pep talk from my mom, I'm ready to face it...I press on.

  1. You should definitely jump! I did it once in a "face your fears" phase I was going through. (along with running a 5K, giving blood, and I few more I still need to conquer!) It was SO exhilarating! You reach such an intense point of fear that you are no longer afraid. I think once was enough for me though, so you're on your own on this one!
