Unproductive...but EVENTFUL!

I did not write at all today...which is why I'm making it a point to update the blog.  Any writing is good  though blogging is not particularly useful for finishing the current script, but it's all good.

Well, I had a decision to make today about a potential working opportunity and I declined.  It was a nice offer from the family of a friend for basically a 'nanny' job for a newborn.  The mother of the newborn is an AD in the reality TV world and would be working alot in the up coming months.  The only reason I declined was because I was afraid I'd get a job and have to leave her up a creek to find another nanny for the baby.   She completely understood, as someone who works in the industry and has (to some degree) been in my shoes.

But then something happened that neither of us expected.  Although she is not in the direction I want to go in my career, she is in the industry...so I asked her if she would be willing to hire me as a PA (production assistant...low man on the totem pole.)...and she said yes.  Now, this offer is good for a few reasons:
  • It's a great way to meet new people who could help me get into a 'writer's room' or on the producing side of both film and TV.
  • It gets me out of the house.
  • It will give me exposure to reality TV (Even though I'm not really into it and don't watch much of it.)...but exposure all the same.
  • It will give me a TV credit to my name.
  • It will get me a paycheck!
The show tapes from early March until the end of April, so it's not a permanent thing.  But I do plan on being the BEST PA out there, so I can catch the eye of people I need in order for me to continue my goal of taking over the world, one film or TV show at a time.  So, it's a good opportunity and I'm looking forward to see how it weaves into God's plan.

Later I went to a screening of SAFE HOUSE (starring Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds) and it was really good.  I enjoyed it anyways.  Mr. Reynolds definitely put forth a bit of effort (as, in my humble opinion, he doesn't have to try too hard in most of his roles because they are pretty simple characters and probably not unlike his real persona.) But I'll just go ahead and say it...his performance was not bad.

Mr. Washington on the other hand...well, all who know me know that he can do no wrong in my eyes, so yeah.  And besides the camera/cinematic choices of the director (which could be just a personal issue) and some predictability (though well revealed) it was an interesting couple of hours. So, my recommendation for this film is: come February, go see it.

Afterwards I met up with Delaware on the CBS lot (which, by the way is really a pretty lot.  I've actually never been on that one before and it's in a really weird, unsuspecting location....but pretty.)   I just met there to pick her up so we could go over the hill (as people say it) to West Hollywood to meet up with a former NY classmate of ours.

We had a really nice time catching up and he's in town to (among other things like attending the Golden Globes---he's pretty well connected) meet up with the agent of Josh Brolin, to see about starring in his first feature.  So, sending up prayers that the meeting goes well...it's tomorrow.

After that, Delaware and I headed back over the hill, caught a late dinner and now I am home.  I'm tired, so outside of this post, no writing tonight...all in all it was a pretty good day and I press on.
