Monday was mostly uneventful, except for an afternoon meeting and Tuesday was the same, save a evening screening.
My Monday meeting was with the chair of Producing at my school, who was finally able to get back with me. I had reached out to her several months ago, on several different occasions...but I'd never hear back from her. Well I guess the new year brought her a bit more time, because I got a call from her after the new year wanting to meet up. I wanted to talk to her about avenues to take or advice she might have for me in my job search. She wanted to basically make sure I was having a well rounded life, IE- dating. Whenever I would steer the conversation one way, she would somehow bring it back to finding me a date.
She said she didn't want me to be forty something and only focused on my career...which I appreciate and agree with...but, can't I get my career up and rolling??? Anyways, it was a nice time catching up.
Tuesday I went to a screening of "Looper" which may be out sometime this year, who knows. It stars Joseph Gorden Levitt, Bruce Willis and Emily Blunt and it was...interesting. I mean, the concept seemed pretty neat and it started out really good, but it later felt jumbled as if the filmmaker wanted to make it super complicated just for the sake of being complicated. That said, it was a free movie and something to do.
Besides those two events, it's been non stop job hunting, writing (or trying to) and some wii play (which I keep to a minimum each day.)
This morning though, I got a call from a dear friend from my Tallahassee days, and his main message to me was to get and be aggressive. A cousin told me the same thing a few days earlier...and I agree. But how does one get/be aggressive? Other than kidnapping all the people I'd like to work with and force them to work with me/give me a chance/give me money to make my projects...I got nothing, but I'm still working on it.
Ideas? I press on.
