It's been quite a while...

I know, I know...it has been quite some time since my last post.  Nearly two months to be exact, but I am back now. 

There's so much to catch up on...though in the grand scheme of things, nothing really significant.  Hmm...I'll just try and get in as much as I can.

The last post was about mid November.

The end of November brought opportunities to serve at a few local homeless shelters for the Thanksgiving holiday.  It made being alone on the west coast much more bearable, focusing on the needs of others rather than not being with any family or friends for this holiday.  Which, actually wasn't too bad.  I helped out on a couple of different days and even made a mini Thanksgiving feast of my own!!!  I had cornish hen, corn pudding, veggies, stuffing...yum!  I also made a Sweet potato pie that took into my internship office to share.  Couldn't have that tasty goodness around the house just for myself!

I also had quite a bit of work and what not to keep me busy until I left for Florida for an extended Christmas vacation.

First, the internship was heavy into post production and had people in there twenty-four seven to make sure everything got done on schedule...I even went in more than my few days a week deal, and stayed well into many nights.  I finally decided that it didn't seem promising that I would get hired on there and put in my 2 weeks resignation. Yes, I learned alot there, and yes made some (hopefully) good connections, but I couldn't see where it would lead to a job anytime in the near future.   After my last day of 'work,' however, they did call me in to continue to help out since there was so much to do.  It's cool that they felt highly enough about my skills to want me to continue to help, but still they are not really in a postion to hire.  I did help out though, until I left for Florida.

While doing the internship, I also got some day gigs as a 'runner' and assistant type work, via Delaware.  (Who, by the way got a promotion and a really big year end bonus to boot...which is great for her!!!) 

I also got commissioned to do some 'promo' work for my old church...and that was...interesting and eye opening.  Basically, the former Pastor and his wife got an offer to pastor a (for lack of a better term) 'turn key' church...were there is already an established congregation and church board, and founders who are getting up in age and who will eventually hand the church over to them.  The church is in Atlanta, GA...which is were they moved to at the end of December.

Well, I'd still been doing promo work for them even after the church when on a permenant hiatus, and then when this opportunity came to them, they asked for more and wanted to pay me for my work.  YES!  So I gave them my rate (which was substantially lower than anything they could get any other place...and lower for me, because it is after all for the minstry.)  Well, as it turns out, after low balling me over the price, asking for more and more and more, (even when I gave them more than I said I would) and asking for MORE free stuff...I basically felt taken advantage of, and now have feel even more of a dissassociation with them.  But, it's in the past, and whether or not they took advantage of me, is on THEM, not me.

So, from Last post till I went home for Christmas, I made a little cash, got some insights about people and resolved to just hang out and chill over the break...and work on a script. (I just can't help myself.)
