For the majority of the day, Friday was pretty low key. The only FFoD was Eriq LaSalle (his pic is below) and that was kinda weird because (growing up) I always thought he looked a bit like my dad. So, to see him in person, and see that he is also tall, and also has a deep voice, was kinda like having a very distant relative of my dad in the office. He was a nice guy, and like many in Hollywood...he had really soft hands.

But, for the most part the day was routine. Until the Creative Director on the other side of the office was watching the news about the wildfire that was quickly spreading. We watched as highways were shut down, and traffic started to back up, and flames came dangerously close to roads and homes. Delaware was flying out again that evening and was concerning about how to get to the airport. Her boss was concerned about his wife (her other boss) as she was in the thick of things and had to pick up their children and make it back over the hill, since they too were heading out for the weekend...on a private plane though.
Then, as we were just wondering about all the logistics that would be altered because of this fire, the power in our building went out...and not just in our bungalow, on the whole studio lot. The only people who were ok, were the Starwagons where the 'stars' stay when they aren't shooting, because they run on generators. We waited, and waited and waited...but the power never came back on.
I heard from my boss who had left earlier for a pitch on a different lot, and she said she wasn't coming back...and that basically I could leave too. But I stayed for a while to see if the power would come back on. Slowly, the boss left, then the Creative Director went to get his son, then the other assistant went to
'see about his family'...then it was just Delaware and I. I left about 5:30pm...which definitely was nice on a Friday afternoon.
Later that night, I just checked my email just in case, and found that two people had both emailed and called. I checked the voicemail, and one of them was good news. One of the shows my boss is working on got picked up and all the deal is sealed! The second was very peculiar because it was for a meeting with a celebrity that NO ONE in our office knew about...not even my boss. So, it was a bit frantic trying to find out what was the deal, but I guess we'll see how it goes on Monday.
Saturday I spent about 2 hours at the sprint store with them trying to fix my email. I don't really want to get into, but sometimes they don't hire the brightest people...and please let it be know, if you're going to try and make me feel stupid on the sly, that I will do the same to you...calmly, tactfully and in a way that makes you feel stupid for trying me and for whatever it is that you did wrong.
Saturday night I spent at the ADs house babysitting. It was fun except for when it was time for her to go to bed. She screamed for a while...but finally I got her to sleep...and then had the evening to work on some writing.
Sunday, I went to the barn and hung out with horses...and as always, had a great time.

On a different note, I got a Facebook friend request today from one of Erika's friends from her time in the Marching Chiefs at FSU. I didn't really recognize her, but she had a picture of FSU and figured it must be a friend of Erika's. When I accepted her friend request, the first post on her wall was about how the football season made her think of Erika, which led her to search for her, which led her to the Orlando Sentinel article about the accident, which she posted. Ugh.
Then other random people gave their condolences and what not...but one guy's post really annoyed me. He was like "I knew her before college and I really hope she pulls through...lets lift her and her family up in prayer." Um, hello...he didn't even thoroughly read the article...obviously. Because if he did...well, my blood pressure is going up just thinking about it, so I won't say. But it was very annoying.
Later, the girl who reached out to me sent me a message to say "H, among other things." I don't mind talking about the accident, but I don't like being reminded of it randomly...I do enough of that on my own, everyday. Every. Day. I will get back to her eventually...I'm sure she, like most people want to know more details...or rather think they want to know more details, only to find themselves sad or regretful after hearing them.
Well, it's only 8 and I'm going to try and get some stuff done before my early bedtime. I press on...
